From Ashes to Ashes

Do you want a deeper relationship with Jesus?

Do you want to grow in measurable ways because of what Jesus teaches you?

Do you want to do more than believe Jesus died and rose again?

Do you want his death and resurrection to mark you so deeply that you can’t help but share it?

These are the questions we ask during our 40-day journey of reflection and surrender

as we prepare for Jesus's death and sacrifice. While it is important to think about and review what Jesus did and why he did it, it is even more important to surrender to everything he wants it to mean in our life.

That’s why I am again offering a 40-day guide to lead you to Easter in ways that bring growth.  I want you to be able to look back and list the ways you heard Jesus in a new way.  I want you to be able to articulate with different words, what Jesus’ death and resurrection means.

And what I want for you, I want for myself as well.  Jesus wouldn’t let me just put down what I think you need to hear.  He directed me to areas where I need to show new growth.

To get us started, I’m suggesting that you read one of the entries below from past postings for Ash Wednesday.  This is the day we remind ourselves that we are created beings and we must answer to our Creator.  But it is a love-saturated encounter. God pulls back the curtain for us during these days to reveal His heart.  When we have a new encounter with God’s heart, we sense a softness in ours where His words can grow.

Note: While each of these offers a Lent Guide at the bottom of the post, it will follow the appropriate calendar for the year it was offered. This year's guide is below.

Take Me to the Cross is the title of this year's guide. Each week is designed to take you deeper into examining the way you live your invitation to follow Jesus. Here is the entry for today so you can sample what this collection is like:

Marked

Read Genesis 18:27

Today, we remember our humble beginning. God created us from dirt, and to dirt, we return. But dirt in the hands of a creative God is the raw material for a masterpiece.

If God can breathe life into dirt, what can He do with how others have marked you?

So will you join me?  Download the 40-day calendar pages here.

If you have any trouble downloading the calendar, I'm happy to send you a copy to your email. Just write me at debmgoodwin@gmail.com . I'll send a PDF copy to you it right away.

Praying that God speaks softly to your heart during this season with reminders of His love so that you want to follow more closely.
